Co-Author_Project: Blending Topographies_Location: IZOLA, SLOVENIA_Date: 2003_Europan 7: Sub-urban challenge, urban intensity and housing diversity. Articulating New Polarities Competition entry: JM123_Site: 8 hectares_Program Scheme: 300 residential units…_Description: The project intends to articulate the competition site to the tourist economy flux present in the Slovenian Adriatic Coast. To bring in site a blending of materials, speeds, intensities and variations that occur along the edges that shape the town and its suburbs. A strategy of shifting topographies as orienting mechanisms is built to accentuate the relationship between city and site. The trace of the old train line that laps in the terrain is re incorporated in the project as an important organisation element that restructures mobility. Six Housing prototypes are disseminated as habitable landscapes to accentuate variations and to allow mix mixed social organizations.
